Technical problem

I've just had my windscreen replaced and the battery was flat when I came to start the engine 24 hour later. The car started ok when the technician had finished and I didn't notice if the sdelights were on. When I jump-started the car the sidelights came on with the switch in the off position - obviously the reason for the flat battery (which has never been flat before). The only way to get the lights off is to disconnect the battery. Is there any way that fitting the windscreen could interfere with the lighting circuit? It sounds unlikely to me. Is there anything I can try to sort this?

Honestly, I can't see how the two are related. Have the switch checked.

I'm a bit embarrassed about this as I've had the car for 6 years. In the end I took it into the local garage who brought an electrician in to test everything. Reported outcome - a 'faulty switch' on top of the steering column (I was unaware of)which enables sidelights to be switched on for parking with everything else switched off! Can't say if the switch was faulty but it's a rocker type and I imagine the windscreen fitter accidentally switched it on - an expensive lesson. Thank you for looking at this
