My 2001 Pontiac Grand Am wont start?

It turns but not start, the fuel pump comes on, I changed the fuel filter
i dont think it is the pass lock because the security light does not come on. It just seems like the car is not getting gas. The pass lock did mess up before so what I would do is turn the ignition to the on postition and let it sit for ten min. And the turn it off wait a few seconds the it would start right up, but like I said the security light is not on. I am usally good at fixing automobiles but this one has me stump. NEED HELP

Before doing anything, check to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine. One will most likely be missing and then you can focus on that circuit.

How do u check if it is getting spark because the spark plugs sit underneath that panel on top of the engine

You can take the top off the motor and the spark plugs and put the spark plugs in the holes in the cap and the plug the plug ack in and see if it sparks if not check the fuses on the fuse panel ox in the car the one marked ctsy if it is lown the car wont get spark
