Hello, please help/advise.
2004 Ford Mustang convertible / V6 / 3.6L / automatic / 140,000 miles / new battery / only year old spark plugs / distributor coil.
Car is garage-parked... Not a daily driver... But crank & run it every weekend.
We just had unusually cold Houston weather (12 degrees)... And I did notice the negative/ground cable on the battery was "loose"/not tight... Could pull it off of the negative terminal by hand.
Symptoms: Turn the ignition and the car attempts to crank... Turning over strongly (not battery)... But will not fire up/run... Headlights come on / radio plays.
OK... So took off both battery cables / cleaned them / replaced & tightened them snugly... Same results... Turns over strongly but will not fire up/run.
Noticed that the "THEFT" light on dashboard is blinking weirdly/erratically... And hearing something sounding like? 4x times mechanical repetitive sound (like behind the radio?) When sitting in car attempting to crank immediately after turning engine over?
Put jumper cables on... Same results... Turns over (even stronger now)... But will not fire up/run.
1. Fuel Supply (frozen gas line? Fuel pump? Fuel filter?
2. Fire (Spark Plugs? Spark Plug Cables? Distributor Coil? My guess & will start here.
3. Engine Compression?
