Hello,

If the clutch stays engaged after you press the clutch pedal can be due to few components being faulty.
Typically it can fail to release due to faulty clutch release bearing, also can be due to slave cylinder or the clutch lever.
If the slave cylinder has leaks it might not release the pressure when clutch pedal is depressed and this will cause the clutch to stay engaged.

Failure of the release bearing can have the same affect, as the bearing will not press against the clutch pressure plate to release it, so the clutch will stay engaged.
