Have the TCC checked to make sure the converter is locking up for overdrive. IF the vehicle is only running in 3rd gear, that sounds like the limp mode. You will need to have the computer scanned to determine if there is an issue there. The limp mode indicates the computer has identified a problem and is giving you the chance to "limp" to a shop to get repairs.
