2000 Mitsubishi Galant - I had a dead battery, a few days later replaced it, and now the anti-theft/alarm won't allow me to start the car. I lost my remote and can't disable it. After disabling the horn I have tried using the key and turning the passenger door a few times, nothing. Insert the key into the ignition, it just tells me it is in anti-theft mode and won't allow me to start it. How can I disable it so I can start the car? It's a factory installed alarm. I do have a bad door lock on the passenger side and sometimes the key doesn't work, would this effect me not being able to use my key in the ignition to disable the alarm?

A bad door lock would not affect the alarm system but if the door lock switch is not good, it can.

Using the key in ignition should be good enough to disarm the system and since it is not working, check the fuses to see if any is blown.

Next try closing all doors and use the key to lock and unlock driver door to see if it works.
