I am trying to remove the rear outer axle seal

I have a 2000 ford f150 4.6l and i am trying to remove the rear outer axle seal.I already removed the differential cover took out the retaining bolt and remover the c clip but the axle wont slide out.also the was a small fire where the seal is located on the passenger side rear wheel.

Hi,

Replacing the axle seal requires the removal of the axle itself. Removal of the axle on this vehicle will require the draining and removal of the rear differential gear oil and cover. Once that is removed, the procedure is not hard. You will also need to safely lift the rear of the vehicle off the ground prior to performing the procedure and remove both the wheels and brake drums.

If you look below, I attached the directions specific to this vehicle for the removal and replacement of the axle.

Starting with pic 8, the directions for the replacement of the seal begins.

After you install the seal, before reinstalling the axle, lubricate the rubber portion of the seal with gear lube.
