This is normally one of two issues. First and foremost the battery is drained and requires a jump start. This would be the case if the clicking noise is repeated. If the click is just a singular click then most likely this is a starter issue.

I would suggest starting with just hooking up jumper cables and seeing if the engine starts or at least turns over. If it doesn't then most likely the starter is the issue.
