Tie Rod and Pressure Regulator

Hello, I was getting an alignment the other day and they told me that my tie rod boot was torn but the tie rod was fine. They also said that the tie rod should be replaced instead of the boot. Are they right or can I just replace the boot. When you drive it the suspension seems perfect so how long until my tie rod goes? Also, my Fuel pressure regulator is bad but my model explorer has the regulator as part of the fuel pump assembly. This is expensive to replace the pump. My pump still works its just the regulator is bad. All it does is rough start but drives perfectly. Can the regulator being bad cause any more problems and should it be replaced immediately?

If the tie rod is good, why replace it? The rubber boot is to keep dirt out and grease in. If it is bad, wear out the ball joint first, then replace it. It will come with a new boot.

The regulator can cause many problems. It can cause low fuel pressure or pressure that is too high. Either is a problem.

How did they managed to determine that the FPR is defective-they performed a fuel pressure test?

If the alignment is correct just replace the boot if there no obvious damage on the tie rod/ends other than the boot itself-
