Hey, I was getting an alignment and they said my tie rod boot was torn. They said its leaking grease and it will be a good while before I have to replace the rod. Right now it drives fine but when should I replace the tie rod? Also, how will I know its going out?

Thanks!

REGULAR, KEPT UP WITH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE WILL MOST LIKELY "CATCH" "NORMAL WEARING" VEHICLE PARTS. THIS WILL ALSO MOST LIKELY "PREVENT" SUDDEN OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE "LIFE THREATENING" PROBLEMS WITH YOU VEHICLE

IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN THE BOOK SAYS (FICTITIOUS EXAMPLE) "EVERY 12,000 MILES" REPLACE YOUR FUEL PUMP--CHANGE WIPER BLADES--CHANGE TRANNY FLUID---HAVE STEERING ALIGNMENT, AND STEERING COMPONENTS CHECKED...........YOU MUST DO IT!!!!!!

THING IS, YOU GOTTA KNOW THE SCHEDULE

THE MOST CRITICAL THING IS "DOING IT"/ "GETTING IT DONE CORRECTLY"........YOU OR A SHOP.......I MYSELF AM A DIYer, AND I BELIEVE IN SAVING $$$ EVERY CHANCE POSSIBLE

THIS IS VERY WELL SPELLED OUT IN A REPAIR MANUAL (BEST: FACTORY MANUAL, 2ND BEST, AN AFTERMARKET MANUAL)----WHERE THINGS ARE "EXPLAINED"......NOT JUST "SHOWN" AS IN AN OWNER'S MANUAL

IF YOU CATCH ON FAST, YOU CAN DO SOME OF THIS STUFF YOURSELF, SAVING YOU $$$

SEE MY ANSWER, IN THIS POST

I'M SORTA TELLING YOU ALL OF THIS FOR YOUR WHOLE CAR, SO THAT MAYBE YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH IT ALL, NOT JUST YOUR STEERING STUFF!

WHATCHU THINK?
