I have this 1998 ford ranger 2.5l motor it has the 2 plugs per cylinder. It was parked the other night and the next day I tried to start it and the starter would not engage, but when it did it made it hard to describe it was like a hard kick in the engine, so I got another starter for it because it did need a starter and it did need the starter but it still does not start and this truck always started and it kicks back too so I don't know what is going on with it does any one have a logical theory I would appreciate it.

Try resetting security system if no manual look online. Make sure battery ends are clean. Then scan for codes.
