My battery was not holding a charge and was not getting re-charged. I replaced alternator and at the same time as the replacement of the alternator, the headlights went out leaving the high beams only and about 2 weeks after that the high beams went out and the transmission would not go out of second gear(40 mph). The rear wiper lights on the dash flash, check engine light is on, abs light is on, gas gauge and speedometer and tach are intermittently working, radiator fan stopped working(i've rigged the fan to turn on when the parking lights are turned on thru direct wire to the parking light relay). And battery still doesn't get charged!
A friend of mine said that it sounded like the computer was going bad. I then checked at a car parts store and they said that the voltage regulator was external from the alternator but they couldn't find a part number or replacement for it. They then proceeded to tell me that the regulator was part of the computer module!
Any help you can give me on the subject and the diagnosis of the problem the better! I have 3 kids that I have to take to school everyday about 7 miles 3 times a day.
Thanks,
Josh and Linda

I know you don't want to hear this, park the vehicle till you can get it in running order. Borrow a loaner vehicle from a relative or friend to use, there is probably going to be some down time.

I can help you with individual problems. If you have a digital multimeter, we can check charging system?

Check for applicable codes.
