'98 suburban, 298,000 miles try to start it and turns over fine for a couple of reveloutions and then stops like somethings is keeping it from turning then it turns okay again for a few revs then it stops again. Is the starter dragging or did the timing chain jump a link and out of timing, its almost like the distributor is advanced to far but I checked it and it was still tight.

At 298k, there could be lots of reasons. It sounds like there might be a cylinder locking up hydraulically, which is to say there could be fluid of some sort in one of the cylinders stopping the engine. Pull all the spark plugs and see if it cranks over freely, and when you do crank it over, watch for fluid to be discharged from the offending hole.

Use a starter button on the starter solenoid, Maybe the leads are long enough to get you out from under the vehicle, probably not. Make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set. You could pull all your spark plugs, then see if the starter will act normal. Take the starter off and have it tested. Let us know what you find.
