1997 Pontiac Grand Am Anti Theft : Vehicle starts, then dies. Securty lite flashes about 3 to 4 times thens goes on steady. Pulled covers on column, cut black & yellow wire, installed 1985 ohm diode inline on wires yellow & black to wiring harness. Went to system learn process 3 times & then started vehicle. Still cranks but won't run but for 2 to 3 seconds before fuel shuts down. White wire is still connected to ignition switch. My question is should I have connected diode ( in-line) to the black & yellow wire to Ignition switch or did I do rite by bridging the 2 wires & leaving the yellow & black not connected to ignition switch?

We recommend having any type of security issues checked at a dealer. I realize there are ways to bypass it, but we don't feel comfortable telling how to do that. I hope you understand.
