Are you able to start? Did you check if the ignition coil wires are securely plugged in?

Yes it will start. When it starts you can smell gas like it is running really rich. It sputters and when you step on the gas is backfires and dies. I installed new spark plugs and wires and a airfilter. The car was running a little rough before but now it is not drivable. I can push the throttle all the way to the floor when it is in drive and it will barely more and dies. I took it apart to make sure that the plugs and wires were seated properly and they seemed to be. Spark plugs 2 and 4 have a little black box that sits on top of the plug and it doesnt snap in place like 1 and 3 but there is no way for it to you just have to screw it down. I dont know what is wrong with it. I thought it may be the throttle linkage because you have to move it to get to the plugs.

The black box you are referring to is the ignition coil. If the wire connector is not snapping into position, cylinder # 2 and 3 would not function as the spark plugs would not be firing resulting in rich running conditiona and stalling.

Check for vacuum leakages of the air intake hose. The accelerator cable does not have any relatins to the problem.

The backfiring indicates somethng is wrong with the igntion timing and since the engine was running rough prior to the work, it could be possible the ignition coil packs are faulty and the work has aggravated them more causing them to fail completely.

Havethe coil pack tested or get a subsitiute pack to test.
