I have never had any problems with my power steering, but the color of the power steering fluid is very dark. I don't have any leaks or any mechanical problems.I have owned this car for 15 years and have never had any type of service done on the power steering system. I do a lot of my own repairs/oil changes etc to save money. Would just replacing the fluid be an appropriate solution?

Yes that will be fine, best way to make sure all the oil is flushed is to remove the return oil line that goes back into the reservoir and slide over a slightly larger hose so you can direct it easily into a container, with an assistant start and slowly turn the steering making sure that the oil level is maintained, when the oil runs clean turn off and replace the return line to the reservoir, re star and check for leaks, re check the oil level after it has sat for a few hrs as you may get some aeration.
