Car not circulating water?

When the thermostate opens it lets the water pump, pump the water through the system.I see a fan listed for your car at the parts sites. So u have a fan assembly.U need to replace the cap or test the rad. Cap. Your cooling sys. Is not oper. Properly. This is why your head gaskets blow.U need to install a fan assembly.

The coolant is being forced out because it is overheating. The system works at around water's boiling point and without the pressure cap on, it definitely would be forced out unless the cooling fans starts to work, which is a prblem because you do not have any cooling fans.

I know this, again I worked in a shop for 2 years, but what I don't understand is why it won't over heat (the car) even though it's not circulating

The coolant would be circulating when the cap is closed. The opened radiator cap would allow coolant to be forced out. That is simple logic.

What defies logic is why doesn't it overheat with no cooling fans. You mentioned working in a shop for 2 years, how much have you learnt about the principles of the cooling system?

Btw, fill the coolant to slightly below the radiator neck and most probably you would be able to see the coolant circulating.

Do as khl said. Also use a screw driver to hold the throttle oh about 2000 rpms. Watch in the hole in a few mins. You going to see some circulation.I think its going to puck all the fluid out. Because you have cracks in the heads.U never checked that did u!

I set the coolent to the correct level, I learned allot and ive been working, it's not circulating, on cars since I was 11, and it's still not circulating, I would be able to tell if it was, and I had the head ultrasounded, and dye penetrate tested, the head is fine! Even with the rpms up it just spits out water like normal, I've asked many people and nobody can answer why its doing this

DID THEY MAGNAFLUX TEST THESE HEADS FOR CRACKS?IF U CANT KEEP IT RUNNING BECAUSE COMPRESSION IS LEAKING INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND ITS BLOWING THE COOLANT OUT! USE A SNIFF KIT ON IT. ILL ALMOST GARRENTY U HAVE EXHAUST GASES IN YOUR COOLANT THEN U WILL HAVE YOUR ANSWER. WHEN I DID HEAD JOBS I WHEN TO THE MACHINE SHOP THROUGH MY HEADS ON THE COUNTER AND PICK UP A REBUILT SET. IS THIS WHAT U DID?

Try running a garden hose through the radiator cooling fins to see if coolant spits out.

He needs to do the sniff test then he will know the answer. Im betting it will show exhaust gases. Then u are going to have to pull the head and get a rebuilt one. Yes the head was good but how many times has it been overheated?This is nonsense every car has a rad. And fans.I look your fans right up have u? Im done khlow goog luck bro.

I work on aircraft for a living, magniflux isn't as good as ultrasound, however I will get the test done and let you know, and water did go through the cooling fins, oh and I put on a radiator cooling fan

I fixed it, turns out it needed a sensor for the fan, and a back flush, heads fine, thanks for all your help!

Read back to my earlier messages, I said I bought a fan for it, however I forgot to mention it wasn't working, so I checked it and the fan worked, so I replaced the sensor and now its working great!

Sorry, that was one of the last replies you made and it slipped my attention. I had been trying to get you to understand the problem but you keep going in the wrong direction.

We try to understand your problem to be sure of the cause and whatever information we knows comes from you. Wrong information means wrong or no answers. If you had not locked your mind on the problem onto something else, the problem would have been resolved long ago.

You busted your head and gaskets because of over heating due to the missing and non operational cooling fan in the first place and I am still surprised how you managed to get it to run for so long without it. The only answer I can think off is you either don't travel in high traffic areas with very short low speed driving or your travelling distances/time are short.

Anyway good to know you have the problem fixed.
Btw air craft engines do not use cooling fans if I am not mistaken, they don't fly in in traffic jams conditons.

Well I appreciate all your help, However im not sure why it didn't over heat without the fan, buy I never had problems with it until the water pump went out, I did blow the gasket, but the head is fine (surprisingly) and you're somewhat right about the airplanes, single engine planes do have a cooling fan, its called the propeller haha, but almost all single engine planes are air cooled, much like the older bugs
