If timming belt goes bad can that brake the water pump? Reason for that question is my car would crank over but wouldnt start when it finaly started I had to pump the gas fast so it wouldnt stall, but it felt like it was not getting any gas so then I had to towe it to a shop.I was told it was my regulator and timming off and that I also needed a new water pump because the timmmng ruened my water pump. But the car never over heated?Thats whay I asked if timming was off would that mean I need a new water pump?

I have never seen a timing belt driven water pump fail due to a belt failing, if the belt fails, the pump just stops as will the engine, even if the valve timing was out, which I find strange in itself, this will not cause a pump to fail, it may be leaking or noisy due to age, but certainly not due to a belt failure.

Timing belt failing would not affect the water pump. Honda recommends to change the waterpump when you change the timingbelt practically because they are located on the same location, and their service life is almost the same. It is a good practice to replace parts when the manufacturer recommends it even when the parts still looks ok. Do not wait for a part to fail before you change them. It would cost you more. Same goes for your timing belt and waterpump.
