This truck ran out of gas. I replaced glow plugs. Eng. Turns over okay; but won't start. Is there a engine shut off switch or soleniod that works when truck runs completely out of fuel? I have bled fuel and pumps out clear. Turns oevr like crazy; but will not run. Can you please help me on this? I have worked on gas engines; but desiel's are new to me. Thanks.

Try loosening injector lines at injectors and see if fuel is present.

The info I looked at was for 96, I saw two different model years? I'm not trying to argue, just want everybody to be safe. The high pressure from the injection pump is dangerous, could be a few thousand psi, nothing to fool with. If you want to check that high fuel pressure, do it properly.

I'm almost sure that kind of pressure is only available at low volume. A loosened injector has a lot of volume available so almost no pressure. If you were to break 1 loose while the engine is running you might get a high pressure jet for a micro sec. I will say I personally have not done this on this motor myself.

You may be correct. I don't get a chance to work on diesel very much.
