I have a 1996 Chrysler Sebring, that dies occasionally, but usually starts right back up. The other night, it dies, and then I restarted it and gave it some gas, pretty hard, harder than usual too, and I heard this loud POP! Then I tried to restart it, and it did, but the steering was really really hard, and then the battery light came on, and then the next day, the battery was dying even more, my radio shut off, then the car wouldnt start at all. If I let it sit for awhile it will start, but idk. Im not a mechanic, and im not good with cars. Also, the little red cover over the battery post was uncovered, so maybe when I gave it all that gas maybe then hood touched it and that was the pop I heard? I just need this car to make it a little longer til I can get a new one. Help me out please. This car has been a headache, and Im really ready to just be done with it but cant afford a new one either.

How big of a pain is it to put it back on? Also, could this be whats been causing it to die randomly? Ive already had that dang sensor replaced, cant think of the name of it, I know there are several, throttle body sensor I think. I am thinking of asking my uncle to do it, as there arent too many mechanics around here, but if its too big of a pain, I may just take it to a dealership, but usually they try to rip you a new one.
