Could someone please help me with my fuel pump replacement thanks

Is that true I heard that when change fuel pump there needs to be atleast 5 gallons of gas in it lol is that true? And not quit sure how it comes out after taking of the ring that holds the cover on shouldnt it just unbolt or something easy?

The pump assembly is held in by the threaded on ring. You can lift it out after unscrewing the ring and detaching the hoses and wires.
