I have a 95 chevrolet c1500 pickup with a 4.3 V6 automatic that will not run without feathering the gas and has a severe hesitation. Issue started 4 days ago, and has continually gotten worse. Flashed a code 44, O2s low voltage. I have replaced the o2 sensor, map sensor, temp sensor, idle air control, entire distributer, and the main computer (but not the PROM). I reset the codes, and it now shows no codes but still does not run without the same severe hesitation. Entire exhaust was replaced 6 months ago, including the cat. Fuel pressure good at the throttle body. Any assistance or guidance given is greatly appreciated.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks around the intake? Does this engine have 290K miles on it?

Yes, I sprayed starting fluid around the base of the throttle body and around all vacuum lines while the engine was sputtering, with no effect. Yes, the engine has 290000 miles on it, I have put about 240,000 on it since I purchased it. The vehicle is a 1995, and does not have a crankshaft position sensor. I performed a compression test about 6 months ago, and all cylinders were within 5-10 lbs of each other.

Range was from 172 to 177 lbs per cylinder. It appears that this vehicle has 2 temperature sensors, I changed one (on the top of the intake), going to change the other (in the left head) tonight and let you know what happens. Truck will run beautifully when cold, but after about a minute and warming up, it starts to sputter and dies. I can keep it running if I "feather" the gas, but it isnt pretty.
