My Mazda overheated one day, so then I shut it off. When I went to restart it, it wouldn't restart. My friend replaced the altenator and it was fine. About a week later, I was driving and it ovcerheated again. Once again, it's not restarting. Im guessing it is the altenator again. The problems I've noticed is that it does make a squealing sound, there feels like there is heat coming through the vents when the heat isn't on. I also noticed a leak under the car, and was told it needs avalve cover gasket and plug wires.

Overheat may be radiator fan is not coming on to cool it of while not moving. Does starter work and crank over engine but just not make it run? Or no starter working?

It's not the starter. I can tell that. It seems like there is something making the altenator bad, because it was just changed a week ago. I just tried to start it again and I turned the lights on first and they dimmed. Isn't that the altenator?

Alternator charges battery. If battery gets low, lights dim and starter and ignition systm may lack power to start car. Have you tried jumping it? Did you tet last alternor before replacing it? Your battery may be real culprit have it tested to.
