1993 Pontiac Trans Sputtering Lay On Gas About 6 000 Rpm Driving Figure

I have a sputtering issue when i lay on the gas at about 6,000 rpm. when i am driving and i cant figure it out. i have people saying it is the disc looking thing in the distributer behind the water pump. Any Idea what it actually is?

It could be many things. Have you checked to see if there are trouble codes stored in the computer? As far as the "disc". I think you are referring to the ignition rotor. They can go bad. Has the vehicle been tuned up reciently?
