A diagnosis.
Unless we have a replacement on hand for a suspect part or a high-failure item, we don't waste our customers' money by "trying" things and introducing more variables. I had to stick that comment in there when I saw, "try".
The first suspect is a blown fuse, especially if you have a trailer harness or the wires in the trunk have been abused. The next suspect is the signal flasher assembly. You most likely still have the real inexpensive and ultra-reliable thermal flasher. Later models went to an expensive electronic flasher to solve, ... Ahh, ... I don't know what problem they found a solution for, but those cause a lot of trouble.
Before you get too involved, check if the brake and tail lights work, and whether the signal lights never turn on or if they turn on and stay on without flashing. If the flasher doesn't solve this, I'll dig up a wiring diagram and we'll figure out where to go next. I'll be back in two days.
When you reply, please list the engine size and transmission type you were asked for so I can look up the correct wiring diagram.
