Cable is screwed onto the driven gear at transmission. Remove this joint first. Note the routing of the cable. At meter assy, disconnet the cable by pushing on the locking tab and tugging at cable to release. Meter might need to be removed if you can't access the cable from underdash.
Reinstall meter side by plugging in the cable and tug at it to ensure the locking tab is in position to prevent the cabe from coming loose. Route cable accordingly and finally plug in the cable at transmission, ensuring the cable key tab is correctly positioned to allow cable housing end to be seated flush before tightening the cap.
