Just bought 75 series diesel 89 mod with 5 speed checked gear box and diff oil noticed the gear box filler had a hose connected to the transfer filler is this normal as I noticed the gear box was low on oil and the trasfer was over full should the hose be replaced with normal plugs?. Also I noticed the rear diff oil was milky witch indicates water has been in the diff ive drained oil and replaced with fresh oil would milky oil have damaged the diff as there ore no whines when drivind the ute cheers.

The hose is fitted because the seal between the gear box and the transfer is leaking, when it leaks gearbox oil is pumped into the transfer and it will blow the transfer out put seals and run the gear box low on oil, the hose allows the oil to flow back to the gear box, not a good fix this, I would do the seal, the diff should be fine, if there is no noise don't worry.
