Will start fine when engine is cold but on hot days very hard to restart.

This sounds like the engine coolant sensor is going bad.To be sure here is a guide to help walk us through the repair:

Please run down this guide and report back. Have you tried holding pedal down even all the way to floor?

Engine will start fine when engine is cold. Engine is very hard to start after the engine is hot, even if it sets for a half hour or longer, especially on hot humid days. So I changed out the coolant sensor and BAM it worked thanks for the suggestion the car is running good again.

I have the car listed above TBI manual transmission that stalled out on me going down the highway. Now it wont start. I have fuel pressure and injection engine turns over but no fire. I have checked the ignition coil that is in spec. I have cleaned the cap and rotor. I have checked the tfi module that is in spec. I have changed the ignition coil in the distributor. I have also changed the ignition switch. I can't get the engine to fire at all after doing all these changes.

One terminal reads 12 v, the other is only reading at 4v.

We have the car listed above with the 1.9 L EFI motor and about 80,000 miles on it. It was driven home the other day and we went back out later to go get gas. The car would not start. It is cranking fine, fuel is getting to the injectors, and the timing belt is turning. I can not however get a spark at the plug wires or the coil wire. I am thinking that it may be the ignition module as I know that older Fords would have them suddenly go out without warning similar to this. Could this be the issue or could it possibly be a bad coil? Thanks for any help.

You are on the right track but I suggest making a few checks and test before changing any parts. First check and see if you have voltage (while cranking the motor) at the primary side of the coil. You should get a on off type of reading. If you do then the ignition coil is bad. (Also suggest measuring the resistance of the coil) If the coil is good it could be the ignition module or the crankshaft sensor. With the key off check the resistance of the sensor with a ohm meter for continuity. If you have continuity then the sensors good. Next disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor. Connect a volt meter to the distributor/ module side of the harness and measure the voltage with the ignition switch on. You should have around 12 volts. If not the module or the wiring harness is bad. Good luck :)

Okay, I have the car listed above xr3i. I know my way round it pretty well but not and expert! I have rebuilt the. Engine and restored the body work, so I have spent a fair amount of time on it! But I have a problem, it wont start. I turn the key and no lights it turns over but wont start. Electric windows work and side lights, but nothing else electric works. But once again no ignition light..I come to believe that it's the ignition module on the side of the dizzy but I cant be sure. I don't want to get one and it not be it! But also why would that case the dash lights not to work? Can you help me please? Thanks.

First what engine and does it have? Port fuel or tbi or cfi? I think Ford calls it. Does it get spark? Is it getting fuel? Check for butn fusible link by distributor it is blue wire. Do you even have compression? Check fuses for dash lights.

LX EFI 1.9L 50,000 miles

Recently I did all the work it needed for a simple tune-up; wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, etc. I replaced the heat sensor as well and with in a few days my car started to stall out while idling. I went through and check the fuel pump which doesn't seem to be engaging on top of that the spark plugs (platinum) are making an intermediate spark too. I checked for moisture already in the distributor. That didn't make any difference, so far. When starter fluid is used the engine kicks in; fuel pump problem? Either way if this is not that cause of my problem, what else should I check for as well?

Do a fuel volume and pressure check and let me know the results also make sure the fuel filter is facing with the flow going the right way should be a arrow. Also check for kinks in the fuel line. If all fuel checks out check out the timing.

I would start with a fuel pressure test to be sure sufficient pressure is being delivered to the injector rail.
