I have a 88 mustang gt 5.0 automatic. It has been wanting to die when you let off the gas. Kinda has a up an down idle when you come to a stop anf then dies. The car does not have an oxygen sensor. The guy how had it before me just took it off and plugged the hole with a bolt. I was told that this could be my issue. And it is a speed density motor. Could this be the problem?

It will be just behind and above the drive belts at the front of the engine. There will be several vacuum hoses attached to the valve and the valve itself has a silver in color disc like "hat" on it and a "L" shaped body.
