We have a 1987 Nissan 300zx. When we unlock it, the security light stays on and the car will not start. Help! This car has a great security system that is activated when you lock the car. When we unlock it, it seems like the security system is not recognizing that the door is unlocked.

We must try a hard reset first. Remove the negative cable from the battery, then touch it to the positive terminal cable for 15 seconds. (nothing should be on the negative side of the battery terminal) this will discharge the systems capacitors. Then reconnect the battery.

Unlock the drivers door and the system should be reset. If not do the procedure over again and use the remote. If that doesn't work try replacing the drivers door latch which has the switch inside of it.

Here is a guide that can help

Please let us know what you find.
