Is that a throttle body? Did you try holding pedal to floor in case it's flooded? Does it sputter at all?

OKJUST FOR GIGGLES LETS TRY IT LIKE THIS

(THE "OFF THE COIL" PART IS CONFUSING)

I TAKE IT THAT YOU PULLED THE SPARK PLUG WIRE OFF OF A SPARK PLUG, AND HAVE A WONDERFUL SNAPPING SPARK FROM THE ACTUAL SPARK PLUG WIRE. NOT THE COIL WIRE OFF OF THE CENTER OF THE DISTRIBUTOR

IF YOU HAVE SPARK. AT THE CORRECT TIME (PLUG WIRES, DISTRIBUTOR, AND TIMING HAVE NOT BEEN MONKEYED WITH, IN NO WAY)

COMPRESSIONWE'LL TEST THAT NEXT IF THE NEXT STUFF JUST AIN'T GETTING NO WHERE (ALL CYLINDERS WITH A COMPRESSION GAUGE, WRITE DOWN THE PSI FOR EACH CYLINDER)

FUEL. YOUR FUEL TEST DOES NOT GIVE US A LOT TO GO ON

ABOVE ARE THE 3 THINGS NEEDED FOR A COMBUSTION ENGINE TO RUN.

LETS DO THIS NEXT, IT'S SIMPLE AND MAY TELL US WHAT'S MISSING

THIS TEST NEEDS TO BE DONE OUTDOORS--AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND OTHER VEHICLES. AND A GOOD DEPENDABLE BUDDY, IF YOU NEED HELP

YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING ON HAND:

A BIG WET TOWEL---FOR AN EZ "SMOTHER" SHOULD A BACKFIRE AND SMALL FIRE OCCUR. THROW THE TOWEL OVER IT!

A FIRE EXTINGUISHER (YES, A GOOD ONE) THIS IS SORTA YOUR BACK UP, IF THE TOWEL DOES NOT WORK!

BETTER SAFE, THAN SORRY

SIMPLEST THING TO TRY IS

PUT A FEW OUNCES OF FUEL INTO A SQUIRT BOTTLE/ A OIL SQUIRT CAN, ETC. THE IDEA HERE IS TO BE ABLE TO "RING" THE THROTTLE BODY, WITHOUT GETTING YOURSELF SO CLOSE (WE WANT A STREAM OUT OF THE BOTTLE)

GIVE THE THROTTLE BODY, A FEW SQUIRTS AND HAVE YOUR BUDDY TURN IT OVER

. IS IT TRYING TO START. DOES IT START?

CAN YOU KEEP IT RUNNING WITH ADDITIONAL SQUIRTS OF FUEL?

OK---IF IT DID BUST OFF, EVEN FOR A FEW SECONDS---WE HAVE A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM

CHECK YOUR FUEL PRESSURE WITH A "REAL" GAUGE.A COUPLE OF TIMES

LET US KNOW WHAT YOUR FINDINGS ARE THUS FAR

Make sure the fuel pressure is within spec too. You may have a fuel pump that runs, but it may not produce enough or too much pressure.
