I was wondering what the 119 times refers to? I was in VRC 50 from 1966 til 1970, We delivered the mail and parts, people and anything else to our carriers. I was in charge of the eng. Shop so did not fly that much, but I certainly did not have 119 landings and take offs.

I HAD MANY MANY MORE TAKE OFFS IN FIXED AND ROTARY WINGED AIRCRAFT THAN THE 119. IF I COULD ACTUALLY COME UP WITH THAT EXACT NUMBER, SUBTRACT 119 AND YOU WILL COME UP WITH THE NUMBER OF TIMES I LANDED INSIDE THOSE AIRCRAFT

119 REFERS TO THE NUMBER OF TIMES I TOOK OFF AND RELIED UPON MYSELF AND THE EQUIPMENT ON MY BACK TO MAKE MY OWN SAFE LANDING....THUS NEVER LANDING WITH THE BIRD 119 TIMES, AND NOT DEPENDING ON A PILOT FOR A LANDING

CJ, Your dad and I are about the same age. I am 75, I joined the Navy in July 1954 at 17. And retired in May 1982. I flew as engineer in C54's, C119's C130's C47's C117's C2A's and C131's. I wonder what sillyvilians think of your man cave? I also wonder what they think your daughter is doing in front of your jeep, of course I cranked many a vehicle with a crank.

Success, CJ. I reviewed all your inputs and all actions I had done. I should have remembered an old Navy saying. KISS, keep it simple-stupid. When I had a direct ground at the fusable link, I had the pos. Battery lead disconnected, but not the neg. I decided to try to see if the ground went away if I disconnected the neg. Lead. Bingo, we both missed this. If I had fixed airplanes like this the Navy would have had my hinney. I took the battery to Pep Boys where I bought the battry in Sept. 2011. It tested bad, it was still under warrenty, so they gave me a new one at no charge. I have never seen a battery act like this on planes or cars. Live and learn. I do appreciate you guys helping me and suggesting a lot of fixes which I will save.
