Why is there a large gap (approx. 1/8 front & 1/4 rear) where the Edelbrock manifold seats onto the block of a newly rebuilt 1978 Buick V6 engine. The manifold came off of the old engine which was a 1984 Buick V6 odd fire. The new engine is and even-fire.

As far as differences, I don't think there should be any. Is there a vacuum leak or is the gasket sealed?

Thanks for being so quick ! As far as I can tell, there is no vacuum leak but it suddenly started popping thru the exhaust pipes and I'm seeing a small oil leak on the drivers bank in the rear. I've replaced the Vcover gasket and it is not coming from the Vcover. Because of the recent change that I just explained, I felt that there might be a failure with the RTV bead in the rear of the manifold. (I have never seen a gap this large before)

Where the intake meets the block, there shouldn't be a gap there. It should still fit tightly. Is that the case?
