Fuel in­jec­tion sys­tems are noth­ing new and have been around since the 1950's first be­ing de­vel­oped for air­craft which had prob­lems us­ing car­bu­re­tors in flight ma­neu­vers....

When a fuel pump goes out it can do so one of two ways ei­ther it can quit and stop work­ing or it can fail in­ter­mit­tently caus­ing the en­gine to stall or not start.
