Car: Listed above is a DX D22 ZD30.

I was driving my car home the other day and noticed the check engine light had come on, diesel was getting low so I filled up and made it home with no performance issues or loud noises or anything initially. I checked the oil and drained the fuel filter out in case there was any water in it and took it for a drive and I began to lose power around 2-2.5k rpm.

A few hours later I tried it again and it had deteriorated until now my problem is:

- Blowing extremely large amount of blue smoke out the exhaust on revving in idle.
- Can not rev past 1000 rpm as engine runs extremely rough and cannot rev higher.

Mod list:
- Catch Can
- EGR Block + butterfly mod
- Aftermarket Turbo
- Oil, Filter and Fuel Filter changed every 7000km.
- New center bearing, rear main oil seal, clutch and a few other things.

Codes Pulled from CEL:
0707 - Injection Pump Injection Timing Control
0406 - Intake Air Volume VNC system
0104 - Vehicle Speed Sensor
0208 - Cooling Fan Control
0407 - Crankshaft Position Sensor
0905 - Intake Air Pressure Sensor

Pulled the oil cap off and did not notice any blow-by. Will pull the intake off the turbo to see if it has blown a seal but further than that I am not sure what else I can check.

Any help you guys can give me would be great! Thanks!

Being blue smoke is usually oil related I would bet your thought on the turbo seal is correct. I would also check the wiring close most of those sensors share common grounds and bias voltage.
The Navara is sold in the US as the Frontier. Unfortunately they do not sell that engine here so our data does no cover it, but Nissan likes to use common feeds for the various sensors.

Hi mate, cheers for the reply. I have since pulled the intake off and noticed some oil in the turbo and on further inspection a small amount of blow-by smoke is coming out of the oil cap. I was told the car had the EGR block and butterfly mod done but I have just had a better look at the butterfly mod was not actually done, so I have pulled the three (brown green and black) plugs out and noticed they were full of mud and re arranged the vacuum hoses in the correct way and have noticed a considerable improvement with much less blue smoke from engine. But I believe it is now in limp mode. What are those three plugs (brown, green and black) that are above the vacuum hoses, do you know?

Went and looked at the video. That much smoke is not just oil through the turbo, unless it is got a really bad leak. I would get a compression and leak down test run on it and see if you may have a broken ring or two that is letting it pull oil from the bottom end.
