My son took the spark plug leads out from the engine not the coil pack and then when he put them back on the car wouldn't start.

Hi Dan,

I just want to confirm that this is a coil on plug vehicle and what he actually removed. When you say the coil leads do you mean the rubber boots that go down in the head and attached over the spark plug itself?

If he did, he most likely had to unplug the coils so make sure he put the connectors back on the correct coils.

If the attachment below does not look correct then it may be helpful to send me a picture of your engine. Also, does it just crank and not fire? A video of it cranking would be great as well.

Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks

Welcome to 2carpros, com

This vehicle actually has two options. First, does it have a distributor cap and spark plug wires going to each cylinder? Or, does it have individual cover over coils for each cylinder. Take a look at the two pics I attached and tell me which one it is.

If it does have a distributor cap and wires, chances are he has the wires going to the wrong cylinders. Take a look at picture 2. It shows the distributor cap and indicates which spark plug wire goes to which cylinder.

Next, look at picture 3. It indicates the number of each cylinder. Take the spark plug wire and match them to the correct cylinders using pics 2 and 3.

If you have the design shown in pic 1, you need to indicate what was actually removed so I have a better idea of what was done.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
