I have the vehicle listed above 2 door, 5 speed transmission. But I had noticed I didn’t have my dome light work. Upon inspection I noticed none of my exterior lights was working either. I checked all fuses and verified that they had proper voltage on it. I noticed my security light was on and would start then shut off. I have an extra extended cab s10 truck. I took the BMX out of it and just tried to put in the truck. No for the crazy part. When the OEM BCM is on the truck lights interior and exterior don’t work and gauges on clusters, but I can put the BCM from other truck on, all lights work, door chime works, fuel gauge does light. But it does the same thing. Start and does starts and shuts off.

Hi,

Are you sure the battery is in good condition and fully charged? Also, other than the lights, does any electrical component work? For example, does the radio turn on or the brake lights? If you haven't already, remove the battery and have it load tested at a parts store to confirm it's good.

As far as the anti-theft light is concerned, once you confirm the battery's condition and make sure it's good, turn the key to the run position so the anti-theft light turns on. Allow the key to remain on for approximately ten minutes. At that point, the light should turn off and the vehicle should start. See what happens.

Also, it isn't uncommon for a battery to show 12v power and fail when any load is placed on it. They can short internally. Also, a loose or corroded battery terminal can also cause this.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

The battery is brand new. I am a certified RVIA mechanic. Plus turned wrenches my whole life. Not to say I know everything, but I know the basics. So, you don’t think has anything with body control module! With the factory one in interior lights don’t work no gauge's work door chime doesn’t work and security light stays on solid no matter what. Even if the key is not in ignition.

But can take the body control module out of another truck. Plug it in and everything works as it should. No security light on unless you try to start it.
Either way when start it. Runs then shuts off.
There is no radio installed in this.

Hi,

Then yes, it does sound like the BCM is the issue.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
