I bought the vehicle listed above that was sitting for 3-4 years. Thought it wouldn't run because of the fuel pump. So, I replaced it along with the filter and fuel pump relay. Still won't start! Can someone point me in the right direction to fix it? It runs if I put gas into the air meter valve under the hood but shuts right back off.

Hi,

Have you confirmed the new pump is running and producing the pressure needed? See pic below.

Also, is this a 16v engine? The pressure specifications below are for that engine. Let me know if that is incorrect.

Next, because of the model year, I have very little as far as wiring schematics. If the pump is working and producing what is needed, the next thing I would check is if the injectors are getting power.

Here is a link that explains in general how to test the injectors:

If the engine is starting when you put gas into it, the ignition system isn't the issue. It certainly is related to fuel.

Let me know.

Joe

The pump is working but there is no pressure. It is a 16v, no injectors are working. The fuel isn't making it to the fuel rail.

Hi,

If the pump is working but the fuel doesn't make it to the fuel rail, you may have a faulty pump. Are you able to check for fuel at the fuel filter?

Let me know.

Joe
