The car listed above was running perfectly fine, I just changed the oil about 10 days before this happened, but I was going down the highway and it made a loud noise and then started making a popping and knocking noise. So, I got stopped at a gas station and it cut off on me at the stop sign before the gas station and then I checked and there was no oil in it! So, I put four quarts in and then tried to drive it and the power steering stopped working and I ended up having to get it towed home because it ended up cutting off and wouldn’t start again and now it hasn't started since and the only code showing is for the MAP sensor.

Hi,

First, I need to know the engine size. There have been specific oil-related issues related to a few different engines in these.

Next, if you lost 4 quarts of oil, can you see where it leaked from?

I'm asking these questions because there is what I call a silent recall on the engines resulting from oil issues and bearing problems. Actually, the idea that you heard a loud noise has me a bit concerned because I've dealt with connecting rods that came through the engine block.

And yes, if this is a related engine issue, they have extended the powertrain warranty. I think it's 150,000, but I need to confirm.

Let me know.

Joe

See pics below. Also, I did note they extended the warranty, but it is to 120,000. It may be worth debating the issue with them if there have been issues and you didn't receive the notification.

It is a 2.4L 4 Cylinder.
And no, I don’t know where it leaked from, I was told by someone I know that there probably wasn’t a leak that it was just burning the oil.
Also, there is 157,515 miles.
And how do I go about seeing if there is a recall?

Hi,

If you used that much oil, there would have been blue smoke from the exhaust. Did you ever notice that?

As far as the warranty is concerned, you will need to contact a dealership. They will be able to tell you if anything can be done. Chances are they will ask for the VIN, vehicle identification number. That will be on your owner's card or at the base of the windshield, driver's side, mounted to the dash,

Let me know if I can help and what you find out.

Joe
