windshield from a 2004 Town and Country fit in a just a little more running it 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Yes it will fit. They used the same basic glass from 2001 through 2007. There are a few versions though, the tinted ones are common. There are also heated ones, for those the glass will still fit but they moved the heater contacts so if you have the heated version in the 2001 the 04 won't connect, but the glass will fit.
