This vehicle had engine knock and I dropped the engine and removed the oil sump. I saw that the crankshaft had been affected, so I replaced the crankshaft and the oil pump without disassembling the whole engine. So after replacement of the crankshaft, I lift the engine to the engine compartment and when I crank, I heard some kind of noise showing that oil has not reach the valve, so I let to idle for four hours and it didn't stopped only to see that white-smoke was coming out of the tailpipe, then I unplug the hose on the PCV to intake manifold, and I noticed the smoke was from there. I loosened the valve-cover and cranked it again. While idling, I saw the smoke was from the hole into which pushrod was incorporated, I applied oil directly to see if it can stop but no way, at this point what would I do to over this valve noise and smoke? Your suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

If you are seeing white smoke from the exhaust, it sounds like engine coolant is making its way into the combustion chamber. By chance, was the engine overheating? Is there any evidence of coolant mixing with the engine oil?

Take a look through this link and go through as many of the tests as you are comfortable with. Let me know what you find:

Take care,

Hi,

Okay, are you sure there is no oil getting to the valves/cam? Also, is it possible for you to record what it's doing and upload it for me to hear and see?

Let me know.

Hello,

I have checked the cams/valve by removing the cover valve both inner and outer and I crank the vehicle, oil begin to flow from the cams and tappets to the valve spring. Then I saw white smoke coming out from pushrod hole, I suspect that maybe oil is not getting to it and that's why the smoke is coming out due to friction thereby making that noise. So, I want to know if the pushrod has a hole in it through which oil flow to the cams, let me loosen and check if it is blocked, let me service it and install back to see if it can correct the noise.

Hi,

The pushrods are a solid link between the hydraulic lifter and the rocker arm and are a hollow design. The pushrod supplies engine oil from the hydraulic lifter to the rocker's arm. So, to answer your question, yes oil travels through it

If you remove them, make sure they are replaced in the same place.

Let me know if this helps.
