On your car this is what the P1238 means: DTC P1238: Mass Airflow Sensor Plausibility (Torque Monitor)

The 1235 means: DTC P1235: Mass Airflow Sensor Plausibility
(the definitions you gave in your post were for Ford vehicles)

Are there any mods on your vehicle? (often these codes are caused by overboost on turbocharged engines and/or drop in air filters) Here is a guide to help check the fuel pump relay with the location in the diagrams below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please run this test and get back to us.

Little power going to fuel pump. We have changed fuel pump and camshaft sensor. My husband could not find the relay to check it. He thought it may be that but does not know. Please help ASAP.

The fuse #24 in the relay box, located left side of engine compartment is what feeds those two fuel pump relays. So you should start there making sure you have twelve volts on both sides of that fuse all the time.

Use a fuel pressure gauge and test the fuel pressure. If no pressure, then you will have to troubleshoot the cause.

Hi LILFRANKY,

Here is a helpful link to an article from this site explaining the process of checking the fuel pressure yourself. If you decide you would like do this yourself you can purchase a fuel pressure gauge online from sites like Amazon.com.

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant that will not start. It has spark so I looked for fuel problems. There is no power going to the pump. I replaced the relay and still no power at the pump. I used a jumper wire instead of the relay and the pump turns on but the car sill will not start. Why wouldn't power be going tot he fuel pump relay to activate it?

This diagram didn't help me. When the key is in the on position there is 12 volts at fuse 13, but the relay doesn't turn on. I tested the relay to be good.

Ok, yes relay 2 (the top one) does not have a complete circuit, to what I assume is due to the computer leaving it open due to some other condition? I tested the ECU, something I read said to test the MAP sensor plug for 5 volts when the car is in the 'on' position to see if the ECU is working, it did so it should be working? Something else I read said it could be a bad crankshaft censor, I tested the ohms on the censor and I got 4 M ohms between 2 of the 3 connections and 0 between the others. Is this censor bad? If this censor was bad would it keep the fuel pump relay circuit open? If it was bad would I still have spark when I turned the car over?

Most likely, no, you wouldn't have spark with a malfunctioning crank sensor. Fuse 13 is the source of switching power for the fuel pump relay. If that fuse is good, make sure there is power from it to the relay with the ignition on. The other side of that should be a path to ground. Make sure the other side of the switching side of the relay has a good ground.

It should only run for one second after turning on the ignition switch. It will turn on again during engine rotation, (cranking or running).

You're supposed to ask me something I know! :) If there isn't one labeled in the fuse box, look for an automatic shutdown relay. It might be called something else but it will be related to "engine", "fuel injection", or something like that. Before you go through all that work, listen under the tank while a helper turns on the ignition switch. If you hear the pump run for one second, that entire circuit is working. You must also check for spark when the fuel pump doesn't run during cranking. The most common no-start problems are caused by the trigger circuit that tells the Engine Computer to turn on the fuel pump AND the ignition coil through that relay.

I have a 2003 galant with a 2.4 engine automatic. I can not get power to the fuel pump. All fuses and relays are good and there is no anti theft system. Any ideas?

Check for broken wires between the fuses and relays and the relay and pump. My reference doesn't list it, but there may be a fuel cut-off switch either in the trunk or in the driver kick panel area.
