Steering wheel suddenly went out alignment with horrible noise on front right wheel

I'm a diyer and work on cars a bit. I haven't had a chance to jack this car up yet, but I've never encountered a problem like this before. My fiancee was driving, and out of nowhere after a not sharp at all turn her cars steering wheel went severely out of alignment, and every time she brakes it straightens out as well as making a horrible pop when the brakes are applied from the front passenger side wheel. Before this happened she was having moderate wheel shake at lower speeds that lightened up as the car moved faster.

This has been solved. I jacked it up and the frame where the control arm mounts rusted and snapped. Car is probably totaled.
