We have several problems but will start with the ignition

I put key in the ignition and it doesn't turn one time, the next time it does fine. I can try turning steering wheel which does nothing to help. I move the shifter, it doesn't help. I take key out & turn it, nothing works. I can leave it for awhile & try again & it might work the next time. It's very frustrating & I never know if I'm going to be stranded some place for awhile

Have you tried lubricating the tumbler?

We squirted some electronic cleaner up n there & later some extra fine graphite

That's about all that one can do. If it still happens, you most likely will need to take apart the steering column and check for issues with the actual switch and the linkage between the tumbler and the switch.
