Im going to purchase a 2005 Volvo S40. I took it to a Volvo dealership to get checked out first and was told that it was most likely a flood car. The car is DRY and looks great except for the rust on the exhaust brackets and the little bit of rust under the drivers seat. Ive asked around and I am still looking for more opinions. If something was to have gone wrong- wouldnt it have already happened? (Say the damage happened 6 months ago) The wiring in these cars is so delicate- if water was to corrode the wires- a light would have gone off correct?

Please give me sound advice!
(I already know to change the oil and dry parts. The car is already dry and is not throwing warning lights)

With flooded vehicles it is hard to say what to expect? Over time there could be corrosion building up in the control modules which could cause some pretty strange behavior. It may have being 6 months since the flood but once the corrosion starts spreading, it spreads like cancer and repairs will be very expensive. I would stay away from that vehicle and consider looking to make another purchace.
