2003 Passat won't start engine

I have a 2003 Passt 1.8T, automatic and it has 76650 mi. This morning it won't start. Until yesterday, it was perfect condition but not today. When I turn the key, only tic, tic, tic sound come out and the bettery power is getting lower and the lights are dim. What is the problems?

Try checking the battery terminals they might be loose or your battery needs charging (you may have left a light on inside overnight
Worst case might need a new alternator
