The clutch seems to have been going out for a couple weeks or so now, taking longer/higher RPM's to get the car accelerating. Now today, it would take 3,000+ RMP's to get the car going and after an hour it completley grabs nothing and no longer moves. I had a friend tell me it was a broken pressure plate, but I wanted to ask if that was correct. The car can now freely move into any gear without pushing in the clutch. Any ideas/suggestions (besides the obvious which is get it fixed!) And do you have a general price on how much it would cost to be fixed. Thank you for your time.

The price for a clutch replacement/repair can be estimated by looking online for a VW parts supplier, and there are search engines for time estimation online, I would guess at about 5 hours, multiply times the shop rate and there you have it. A clutch kit can go for 300 or so for a good quality kit and dont forget the flywheel, it must be machined or replaced if damaged. Also the clutch hydraulics may require maintenance or repair, when it comes apart, you'll know.
