After overheating I allowed it to cool down, I started it let it idle put it into reverse backed up put it into drive and accelerated it sputtered and shut off. Now it won't start; cranks but will not start the gauges on dash before were jumping erratically and not working before it overheated. Friend ran an obd2 scan and it gave these codes:
Po700, 731, 736 and p1784? What do I do next? Can anyone help please? It's in my driveway and it's 35 miles to town.

Hi,

I will try my best to help. As far as the codes, here is their meanings:

P0700 (generic code) indicates there is a diagnostic code stored in the transmission control module.

P0731, P1784, and P0736 are not identified for this vehicle. However, they are Chrysler codes. P0731 recognizes a gear ratio issue, P0736 indicates an issue with reverse, and P1784 (which I saved for last) indicates there is a pressure issue within the transmission causing a problem for the low/reverse clutch pack to engage. This code is likely the problem setting the other two codes.

Now, none of these codes should prevent the vehicle from starting. So, I have to ask. How badly did the engine overheat? Also, I'm a bit confused about the last three codes you provided. Is the year make, and model correct that you listed? How did you get the codes?

As far as the no start, I need you to check for spark and fuel to the engine. The easiest thing to do is see if it starts for a couple of seconds using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know there is an issue with the fuel system. If it does nothing, then it's likely ignition-related and you will need to check for spark to the plugs.

Here are a couple of links explaining how to check for fuel and spark:

Let me know as much as you can.

Take care,

Joe
