Lately I noticed my car is burning a lot of gas. I drove about forty miles and burned almost a quarter of a tank. I also noticed when driving at times the car and I take my foot off the gas the speedometer starts dropping and I begin losing speed fast.
No codes.

It's possible that the brakes are sticking a little bit on one of the wheels. Next time you drive it, check the temperature of the wheels when you get out of the car. If one is significantly higher than the others, then we've found our problem wheel.

The other possibility that I can think of right off of the bat would be that the overdrive gear may not be engaging for one reason or another. With that, you might notice the engine is running faster and harder than it used to and you'll only feel two shifts when driving. First to second gear (15-25 mph) and second to third gear (25-35 mph).

Check out the brakes and pay close attention to the shifts. Let me know what you find.

The torque converters on these cars are a problem. I know because I have a new one in a box waiting for me to put it in my daughter’s car. This usually will come with a check engine light on though. If not that, you may have a brake dragging as described above.
