Incorrect lamp operation is almost always caused by a bad ground wire. On older vehicles, inspecting the wire harness and where the ground wire bolts to the body usually reveals the break. On newer vehicles, many of them use circuit boards or flexible film circuits that cause a lot of trouble. The clue is only one side is affected, and all the functions on the other side work properly.
